Organizational Background: |
The YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh, celebrating its 135 th year, is part of the oldest and largest international women's movement in the world. The YWCA is committed to advocating for social justice, racial and gender equality, an end to all violence in general and domestic violence in particular. Currently, with a budget of $50 million, the YWCA's programs include: Supported Housing; Bridge Housing; Job Training; Child Care Resource Development; ENCORE Breast Care Program; Women's Counseling Center ; Legal Resource for Women; Summer Camp; YW-Teens Program; Female Leadership and Mentoring Endeavor Programs; and, a Center for Race Relations and Anti-Racism Training. Services of A. L. Brourman Associates Inc. were retained in 2004 to conduct an $11 million capital campaign to renovate the YWCA's Flagship Program Center which serves some 100,000 people annually and to build a new YWCA in the Homewood Brushton area to serve a predominately African-American community.
